The challenge
Professional green-screen work has always belonged to studios with the right gear and the know-how to use it. Chromavid wanted to hand that capability to anyone with a phone — applying chroma key effects to photos and video in real time, with results that look like a real production.
Getting there meant solving several problems at once: making a complex technique feel simple, processing video smoothly on everyday mobile hardware without lag, holding output quality for both photo and video, and wrapping it all in an interface that needs no manual.
Our approach
We built Chromavid to apply chroma key effects live, as the user shoots, swapping in a background from the built-in library or one of their own images. It supports multiple key colours — green, blue, yellow and red — handles unlimited recording length, and walks first-timers through each step with clear on-screen guidance. An ad-free premium tier removes interruptions for users who want a cleaner experience.
The payoff is professional-grade compositing that fits in a pocket. Content creators, educators and social users alike picked it up to produce the kind of green-screen footage that used to require a studio.
